An Iterated Function systems Approach to Emergence
نویسنده
چکیده
An approach to action selection in autonomous agents is presented. This approach is motivated by biological examples and the operation of the Random Iteration Algorithm on an Iterated Function System. The approach is illustrated with a simple three-mode behavior that allows a swarm of 200 computational agents to function as a global optimizer on a 30-dimensional multimodal cost function. The behavior of the swarm has functional similarities to the behavior of an evolutionary computation (EC).

Rotation number and its properties for iterated function and non-autonomous systems
The main purpose of this paper is to introduce the rotation number for non-autonomous and iterated function systems. First, we define iterated function systems and the lift of these types of systems on the unit circle. In the following, we define the rotation number and investigate the conditions of existence and uniqueness of this number for our systems. Then, the notions rotational entropy an...
متن کاملThe Emergence of Cooperation in Asynchronous Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma
The Iterated Prisoners Dilemma (IPD) has received much attention because of its ability to demonstrate altruistic behavior. However, most studies focus on the synchronous case, where players make their decisions simultaneously. As this is implausible in most biological contexts, a more generalized approach is required to study the emergence of altruistic behavior in an evolutionary context. Her...
متن کاملStatistical Model Checking Of Multi-Agent Systems
This paper proposes an original approach to modelling and simulation of multi-agent systems which is based on statistical model checking (SMC). The approach is prototyped in the context of the popular UPPAAL SMC toolbox. Usefulness and validation of the approach are checked by applying it to a known complex and adaptive model of the Iterated Prisoner’s Dilemma (IPD) game, by studying the emerge...
متن کاملChaotic property for non-autonomous iterated function system
In this paper, the new concept of non-autonomous iterated function system is introduced and also shown that non-autonomous iterated function system IFS(f_(1,∞)^0,f_(1,∞)^1) is topologically transitive for the metric space of X whenever the system has average shadowing property and its minimal points on X are dense. Moreover, such a system is topologically transitive, whenever, there is a point ...
متن کامل[inria-00510143, v1] Construction of fractals using formal languages and matrices of attractors
LRIFS's (Language-Restricted Iterated Function Systems) generalize the original de nition of IFS's (Iterated Function Systems) by providing tools for restricting the sequences of applicable transformations. In this paper, we study an approach of LRIFS's based on matrices and graph theory. This enables us to generate a matrix which elements are attractors.
